Do you want to plant trees while surfing the web, without paying a single Cent for it? Did you ever wish you could plant real trees with nothing but a single click of your mouse? Would you use a tree-planting web browser if there was one?
Lucky you. Cause here comes the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant. It turns Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Opera into tree-planting browsers.
And even better: It doesn’t cost you a dime to plant trees while surfing the web. How good is that?
What is the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant?
The Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant is a free browser extension that helps you make surfing the web more sustainable. You could call it a tree-lover’s toolbar, a plugin for the planet or a browser app that plants trees, or anything else along these lines.
We have opted for “tree-planting assistant”, since the extension automatically helps you to plant trees while you surf the web.
Once installed, it turns your standard internet browser into a tree-planting browser.
To achieve this, we have partnered with online shops all over the world. We agreed with these partners that they pay us to plant trees for them if their clients (aka you) so wish. Of course, planting these trees is free of cost to you.
More on that in the “How The Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant Works” section below.
But for everyone who can’t wait to start planting trees for free while surfing the web, here is how to turn your browser into a tree-planting browser.

How The Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant Works
Once you installed the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant, your tree-planting browser gets to work.
Every time you visit one of our partners’ websites, the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant shows a small bar in the top of your browser, asking whether you’d like to plant a tree while purchasing from this partner.
If you click “No thanks”, the Tree-Planting Assistant disappears, nothing happens, and no trees will be planted.
If you click “Yes, of course”, the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant informs our partner that you wish to plant a tree with your purchase. Our partners then donate a small percentage (usually between 1%-3%) of your order value to us, and we invest that money to plant trees.
Good news for you: All of this is entirely free of charge for you! Our partners plant that tree out of their marketing budget, both to do good for the planet and to position themselves as more sustainable companies. Modern-day humans love sustainable companies.
All you need to do is let these partners know that you want to plant a tree. The easiest way to do this is by installing the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant and clicking “Yes please” when being asked whether you’d like to plant a tree with your purchase or not.
How Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant Uses Your Data
As a German company we take data protection very seriously. We don’t collect, store, sell or analyze any of your data. We can’t do any of the latter, because we don’t collect any data in the first place.
The only data collected is by Google, which tracks how often the tree-planting assistant has been downloaded, how often it has been uninstalled etc.
Despite not collecting any data, the extension needs certain permissions to function correctly.
In order to work its magic, the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant needs to know which websites you are visiting. If the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant wouldn’t know which website you are visiting, it couldn’t inform our partners that you wish to plant free trees with your purchases.
It also needs permission to change the website URL. To inform our partners that you want to plant trees with your purchases, your sales are routed via a dedicated, Click A Tree-specific URL. The Tree-Planting Assistant changes that URL for you, so you don’t have to worry about anything.
Data Usage Simplified
You already know we don’t use your data for anything. We don’t collect it, we don’t store it, we don’t sell it, we don’t analyze it.
From our point of view, this is what happens while you search the web:
Surf… surf… surf. Visit a partners’ website.
“Hey, would you like to plant a free tree?”
If you select “No”, the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant goes back to sleep.
If you select “Yes”, the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant informs our partner that you wish to plant a tree and reloads the page to include our specific URL – and then goes back to sleep.
We have no idea which products you look at or what you purchase. All we know is our partner getting back to us in the end, saying “Someone (no names, no IP addresses, nothing) wishes to plant a tree. Here is the agreed percentage of this person’s purchase. Please go ahead and plant trees with this.”
We then go ahead and plant trees.
How To Uninstall The Tree-Planting Assistant
If you ever want to uninstall the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant, simply go to your browser extensions and remove it. You can do that anytime, at no cost.
Apart from that, our planet will miss your valuable contributions to its health.
Should you decide to uninstall the plugin, please do send us a short message to let us know why, so we can further improve the extension.
Improving The Tree-Planting Assistant
The fact that we do not ask for any of your data is also the reason that we cannot thank you personally, and cannot tell you “Thank you, awesome human, you have planted 27 trees in the past month already. That is more than most other humans plant in one month.”
While this personalization would certainly be nice, it would require us to collect, store and analyze your data, which we don’t want to do. If this is a feature you would like to see, feel free to get in touch. We’re always working hard to make the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant an even better experience for you.
Since “not analyzing your data” also means that we have no idea which websites you frequently visit, we heavily rely on you to suggest potential new partners for the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant.
If you regularly shop on a site we haven’t partnered with yet, please do get in touch to let us know.
Do you have questions on how the Click A Tree Tree-Planting Assistant works? Here are some answers to the most common questions.
Feel free to get in touch should your question not be answered here.
Trees fight climate change, create habitat for endangered animal species and jobs for local communities. Three good deeds in one – with one single click of a mouse.
Do you always plant one tree per purchase?
No. Usually we plant more. The exact number of trees being planted while you surf the web depends on the commission we receive from our partners. However, we always plant at least one tree per purchase.
Which partners do you work with?
Click A Tree is the sister company of B’n’Tree, hence we mainly work with tourism companies to begin with. As the concept becomes more popular, and more and more people care about our planet and start planting trees, we expand our partnerships to partners worldwide.
Get in touch to let us know which companies you would like us to partner with, so we can plant trees while you shop with them.
