About the Hotel Drei Birken

The family-run Hotel Drei Birken is located in the heart of the Teutoburg Forest.

The focus is on warm hospitality, relaxation and culinary delights.

Sustainable management also has a firm place in the hotel philosophy, for example in the targeted conservation of resources in housekeeping.

Resource-saving & effective: "Trees instead of housekeeping"

Since 2024, the hotel has offered its guests the choice of daily room cleaning or a tree.

If you opt for the latter, hang a small cotton bag on the door.

Housekeeping saves time, water, electricity and cleaning agents.

And Click A Tree plants a tree on behalf of the hotel.

The implementation

Simple and efficient: the decision is documented at reception, the total number is reported at the end of the month – done.

No new software, no restructuring.

Only smart use of resources.

The system provides noticeable relief for the team, especially in stressful phases.

Sustainability meets profitability

What makes this measure special is that it is not only sustainable, but also makes economic sense.

  • Less resource consumption = lower operating costs
  • More room for maneuver for staff
  • Appreciation from guests who can play an active role in shaping it
Certificate for tree planting and environmental protection

The program is well received – not only by the guests, but also internally.

It is communicated via flyers, room tablets and social media.

Guests feel involved and experience sustainability as part of their stay, not as an additional offer.

In just a few months, 350 climate-resistant trees have already been planted in Click A Tree’s German project.

Conclusion: Smart solutions for a sustainable future.

Stefanie Büning on the collaboration with Click A Tree:

“With Click A Tree, we have found a partner that allows us to work much more sustainably in a completely uncomplicated way. It also takes the pressure off our employees and our guests are delighted. Everyone makes a small contribution.”

The Hotel Drei Birken shows: Sustainability and profitability are not mutually exclusive – they strengthen each other.

Those who invest in resource conservation today not only reduce their operating costs, but also position themselves for the future on the market.
