How language schools can implement sustainability

The Instituto Intercultural del Caribe, or IIC for short, is a renowned language school in the Dominican Republic.

The school offers students the opportunity to learn Spanish in a Spanish-speaking country while getting to know the people and their culture.

Sustainability in education

The Instituto Intercultural del Caribe offers a first-class learning experience aimed at not only teaching language skills, but also fostering a deep understanding of Dominican culture.

The school is located in a tropical natural paradise, close to the sea, surrounded by lush vegetation. The most beautiful places are in healthy ecosystems, so the IIC team is committed to protecting natural landscapes and promoting global education initiatives together with Click A Tree.

A sense of responsibility and sustainability at the language school for 30 years

Instituto Intercultural del Caribe, founded in 1994 in the Dominican Republic – that’s Tanja Hölzer and Tina Klemençiç from the International Relations team, principal Victoriano Pérez, the entire teaching staff and everyone from the team in Sosúa who make the language school the place of learning and well-being that it is.

The language school is located in the beach town of Sosúa on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. It is surrounded by a colorful tropical garden and offers an ideal atmosphere for concentrated learning in beautiful surroundings.

Intercultural understanding is promoted through learning another language, immersion Spanish courses, study visits to the Dominican Republic and daily exchanges between students and local people.

“Language lives in culture, and that’s why for us the two go hand in hand when learning a language,” explains Tanja.

The school is a place of international exchange and so it is not surprising that friendships develop far beyond national borders.

The additional German and English courses on offer open up improved future prospects for the local population. The school has thus created a sustainable concept that benefits everyone. An approach that Click A Tree also pursues: holistic sustainability.

Sustainability in the education sector

The cooperation between the Instituto Intercultural del Caribe and Click A Tree has existed since 2021. Since then, IIC has supported the project in Ghana and planted a tree for every special event.

The planted trees create and secure habitats for animals, create full-time jobs and support Ghanaian educational institutions, which are part of the reforestation projects there. These Ghanaian business schools are particularly close to the hearts of the IIC team.

The cooperation between the Instituto Intercultural del Caribe and Click A Tree is always voluntary and informal. This means that the language school does not take any financial risk.

Because it is important to Click A Tree that every educational institution has easy access to sustainability measures. It is our company philosophy to find uncomplicated solutions for every company.
