Sustainability strategy in gastronomy:
One dish = one tree
HOMEI is a restaurant in the heart of Bonn.
The so-called tree court supports the Click A Tree project in the Philippines.
The cooperation inspires guests and helps to strengthen the brand image.
- HOMEI plants a tree for every tree dish
- These tree plantings help to strengthen the brand image
- Guests thank us with positive feedback and are happy to order the tree dish
- HOMEI supports the project in the Philippines and thus promotes all 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations
- The website and menu inform guests about the collaboration
- The HOMEI restaurant creates competitive advantages through sustainability and is set up for the future

Future-proofing the food service industry through sustainability

Creativity meets sustainable partnership
Kiu Man, who runs several restaurants in Bonn with his family, attaches great importance to creative but natural cuisine.
The gyoza are prepared without artificial additives or flavorings.
The creativity is also evident in the specially created sauces and fillings.
The cooperation with Click A Tree fits in very well with the restaurant’s focus.
Kiu Man particularly appreciates the simple implementation of the collaboration, but also the transparency. “The cooperation with Click A Tree is transparent, which I like because I always know what my money is supporting,” says the restaurateur.
Sustainable gastronomy is the trend
The HOMEI restaurant and Click A Tree have been working together since 2023.
An area of 172.75 m² has now been reforested with 136 trees planted and 135 kg of plastic waste has been collected from the ocean.
Here, sustainability in the catering industry happens quite casually – and all sides benefit!
The restaurant supports the Click A Tree project in the Philippines and plants a mangrove tree for every tree dish sold.
The restaurant pays half of this itself and communicates this openly to its customers. They can actively and passively participate in the restaurant’s sustainability management.
The plantations create jobs in local communities, promote biodiversity, create habitats for wildlife and collect plastic waste from the sea – one kilogram per mangrove!
Sustainability in gastronomy transparent and uncomplicated
The HOMEI restaurant team can view the impact achieved through the sale of the so-called tree dish at any time via their Click A Tree Dashboard and share it with their guests.
The dashboard is available to all restaurants that plant trees with Click A Tree. It is easily accessible via the login on the website and clearly shows what has been achieved through the tree planting: The area reforested, the trees planted, the CO? absorbed, the education supported, the plastic waste collected from the sea and the work created for local people with fair wages.
